The gorge Gorge du Fier
The Fier is a mountain river in France, which runs in the Haute- Savoie, in the Rhône -Alpes. It rises in the municipality of Manigod, on the north face of Mont Charvin, a summit of the Chaîne des Aravis. It flows through the valleys of Manigod and Thones and breaks a few kilometers east of the town of Annecy, the gorge Défilé de Dingy in Dingy- Saint- Clair. From there, to the outskirts of Annecy, there is a motorable paddlers of whitewater course. A few miles west, in Annecy- le -Vieux, the river breaks through the ( impassable ) Gorges du Fier and flows 72 km from the city Château Fort, community Motz, as a left tributary of the Rhône.
