Filiberto Ferrero

Filiberto Ferrero (* 1500 in Biella, † August 14, 1549 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Life

The oldest of seven children of Goffredo Ferrero was the brother of Cardinal Pier Francesco Ferrero, the nephew of the Cardinals Gianstefano Bonifacio Ferrero and Ferrero, as well as the uncle of Cardinal Guido Luca Ferrero.

Elected on May 17, 1518 Bishop of Ivrea, he administered his diocese to the canonical age of 27 years as an administrator. Since 1528 almoner of the king of France, he was ambassador of the Duke of Savoy in 1530 in Venice and was on November 12, 1532 Nuncio to Savoy. Since 1534 the Governor of Piacenza, he was since 1535 a benefice of S. Michele della Chiusa and since October 28, 1537 also benefice of S. Stefano in the diocese of Ivrea. From 1537 to 1541 served as nuncio in France, Pope Paul III created him. on April 8, 1549 to cardinal priests and him on May 10, 1549 gave the titular church of Santi Vitale, Valeria, Gervasio e Protasio.

His grave is located in Biella, where he was transferred.
