Finnish Orienteering Federation

Orienteering Association of Finland (Finnish: Suomen Suunnistusliitto, SSL, Swedish: Finlands Orienteringsförbund ) is the national Orienteering Association of Finland. It was founded in 1945 and is a founding member of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF ).

History

The association was founded on 18 March 1945 under the name Suomen Suunnistamisliitto. In the same year also the Norwegian Orienteering Federation founded in 1938, originated in Sweden the national Orienteering Association. In 1959 it was renamed into the current name. Since 1946, the association is a magazine that appears under the name Suunnistaja since 1950.
