The parliamentary elections in Finland 1983 was held on 20 and 21 March 1983. It was the election of the 29th Parliament of Finland.

The Country Party of Finland and the ruling Social Democratic Party were the biggest winners of the elections. Large losses suffered left Popular Democratic Union and the Christian Union lost two thirds of their previous seats. For the first time the way into the parliament abolished the Green League, which received 1.5% of the vote. Kalevi Sorsa of the Social Democratic Party remained Prime Minister and took the resurgent country with Party of Finland on the government.

The turnout was 81.0 %, which is 0.2 percentage points below the turnout at the last parliamentary election in 1979.

After the election

Kalevi Sorsa led his coalition of Social Democrats continued, the center and the Swedish People's Party. He also formed a coalition with the Country Party of Finland. It was the first majority government capable of Finland, which was able to hold a full term.
