Firebaugh, California

Firebaugh (formerly also Firebaugh 's Ferry ) is a city in Fresno County, California, United States. In 2010 there were 7,549 residents registered by 5,743 in 2000. The city is located in the San Joaquin Valley.

Location

The town is located 61 km west of Fresno, and also west of the San Joaquin River at an altitude of 46 meters.

History

The town is named after Andrew D. Firebaugh, sometimes Fierbaugh, a local entrepreneur named. During the gold rush here this operated a ferry that carried passengers and cargo on the San Joaquin River. He also built a toll road from Bell Station to the Pacheco Pass.

Cultural

On the album Wönderful 1985 the punk band Circle Jerks took from Los Angeles on a song called Firebaugh, in which it comes to racial conflict, alcoholism, violence and boredom. The text says: "If your car breaks down, do not take a tow to Firebaugh ... "
