The Fish River is a river in the middle of the Australian state of New South Wales.

It rises on the western slopes of Shooters Hill about 20 km south-east of Oberon and flows thence north- west to open east of Bathurst in the Macquarie River. In Oberon the Fish River Reservoir, its water is used for irrigation of agricultural land in the area is located.

The Fish River got its name by the explorers of the area around Bathurst, because they found a lot of fish in it. The reason for this is the constant over the year -flow conditions, which is rather rare in Australia.
