FK Slavija

FK Slavija Sarajevo is a football club from the Bosnian-Herzegovinian state capital Sarajevo and comes from the district Lukavica. Today the club plays in the Premijer league.

History

Slavija was founded in 1908, the founding fathers were students of the Gymnasium in Sarajevo. Due to adverse events in Austria -Hungarian Empire and the local establishment laws they played the first official match until 1911. Opponent was a selection of Viennese soldiers you defeated 4-2. 1913 there was a break in the club after a portion of the members left the club. They founded the Croatian sports club NK SASK Napredak while the remaining members of the club name in sports skiing klub Srpski Slavija umänderten, so in a Serbian sports club.

After the First World War Slavija and Sask were the only clubs from Sarajevo, the play in the first division of the new Kingdom of Yugoslavia. From this period also one of the greatest successes than you European vice-champion Ferencvaros Budapest 1940 defeated 3-0. After the Second World War, the club was disbanded because of its national orientation.

Resurrection

In 1993 the club was re- founded on some workers from East Sarajevo initiative. By 2004, it played games in the Premier League of the Republika Srpska and won the 2003/04 championship. From the following season the club was now playing in the Gesamtbosnischen Premijer league.

The season 2008/ 09 joined the FK Slavija from the 2nd place, thus securing participation in the UEFA Europa League. Also, you could win the cup in the same season.

The fans of FC " Slavija " call themselves Sokolovi and come mostly from the east of Sarajevo or from Ilidža.
