Flaochad

Flaochad (* unknown; † 642) was a Frankish Meier house in Burgundy.

Before appointment by Nanthild that their niece gave him as a woman, to the house of Burgundy in 639 Meier nothing about him is known. Only the Chronicle Fredegar reported about him.

After his appointment to the house Meier, in which he succeeded Aegas, he continued a well already prolonged feud with the nobles Willibald. In the Palace of Chalon Flaochad tried this with a stop, which failed, however, to kill. Willibald then invited him to a duel, which was then, however, by Amalbert, probably a brother Flachoads prevented. Finally, he convinced Clovis II, Willibald at the court at Autun publicly condemn, whereupon Flachoad was combined with the Neustrian house Meier Erchinoald and together was going with him against Willibald. Willibald was defeated and died in battle. Floachad survived Willibald only eleven days and then himself died a cruel death. In Fredegar this is interpreted as God's judgment against him. His successor in the office of mayor of the palace was Erchinoald and thus the house of Neustria and Burgundy Meier offices were finally summarized.
