Flavio Chigi (1631–1693)

Flavio Chigi ( born May 10, 1631 Siena, † September 13, 1693 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church, most recently as Cardinal Bishop of Albano and Porto suburbicarian dioceses and Santa Rufina.

The son of Mario Chigi and Berenice della Ciaia studied philosophy and law. In the consistory of April 9, 1657, he was appointed by his uncle, Pope Alexander VII, a cardinal. As a cardinal, he was first Cardinal Priest of Santa Maria del Popolo ( 1657-1686 ). After his appointment as cardinal bishop and the bishop consecration by Paluzzo Paluzzi Altieri degli Albertoni he stood before the suburbicarian diocese of Albano (1686-1689), then to the Porto and Santa Rufina ( 1689-1693 ).

Furthermore, he had the following Curia offices held: 1659-1681 librarian of the Vatican Library, july- November 1661 Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, 1661-1693 Prefect of the Curia, 1673-1674 Camerlengo of the Sacred College.

In 1680 he left the villa Cetinale build.
