The rural community Fljótsdalur ( Isl Fljótsdalshreppur ) is located in the east of Iceland in the region Austurland.

It is one of the few municipalities Islands that have no access to the sea. On 1 January 2009 the municipality had 135 inhabitants.

Population Development

As in several municipalities in the region Austurland really a great increase of the population in the years to 2006 to determine. In 2007 there was, however, a significant population decline.
