Florine of Burgundy

Florine of Burgundy (French Fleurine de Bourgogne; * to 1081, † 1097 in Philomelion ) was a French noblewoman who died during the First Crusade.

Florine was a daughter of the Duke Odo I of Burgundy and his wife Sibylle of Burgundy. About her father she was a member of the royal dynasty of the Capetians. She was betrothed or even married to the Danish Prince Sven ( Sven ), a son of King Sven Estridsson. Together with her husband she went on the First Crusade, in which both were killed in Asia Minor. Supposedly, they were surprised with their quota of one thousand five hundred knights at the crossing of Cappadocia by a superior force of the Seljuks. For one day, fought Florine and Sven against the enemy, even after they had been hit by seven arrows. But in the end they were killed by the superior force.

Florine's father took part in the crusade of 1101 and died there in 1102 at Tarsus.
