The Black Horn (also: Flüela Black Horn ) is located about two kilometers south of the Flüelapass in the Swiss Alps. It is the highest elevation of Davos and has a height of 3,146, 2 m above sea level. M.
Received its name due to its black horn seen from the Davos side from very dark rock amphibolite, which is seen as a dark prongs widely. From the summit you can see a comprehensive view. In some sources it is described that this from Mont Blanc to the Grossglockner rich.
About the leading from Flüelapass her way the black horn is easily accessible and is frequently visited in the summer. In the spring it is a popular ski mountain.
Location
The Black Horn is named after the black horn - chain, a subset of the Albula Alps. About the Summit, the municipal boundary between Davos and Susch runs. The Black Horn is bordered to the southwest by the Dischmatal and on the east by the Val Susasca.
Among the neighboring peaks include the Chlein Black Horn ( 2'968 m), the Flüela Wisshorn ( 3'085 m), Piz Radönt ( 3'065 m), the Radüner Rothorn ( 3'022 m), the Bocktenhorn ( 3'044 m), the saddle horn ( 2,981 m), the Hüreli ( 2'568 m ) and the Börterhorn ( 1'697 m). From Radüner Rothorn the Black Horn by Schwarzhornfurgga ( 2,880 m) is separated.
On the northern edge of the Black Horn has a glacier, the Black Horn glacier.
Valley is a Davos and Susch. Common starting points are the Flüelapassstrasse or Dischmatal.
