Shaping

The records cover shows an illustration by Gustave Doré for poetic cycle Idylls of the King by Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson. In the booklet you will find black and white pictures that were taken at night in the forest and show the musicians with corpse paint, rivets and weapons.

Style of music and texts

The music has been described in the Rites of Eleusis as a " symphonic and nostalgic " and " cold". The use of different voices gives the music a folk trend. The synthesizer plays an essential role in music. The lyrics deal with topics such as the final battle and the establishment of a new empire in Satan's name (Det nye Riket ), the Norwegian Nature ( Over bleknede Blaner til dommedag ) and Attila ( Hunnerkongens sorgsvarte ferd over steppene ).

Reviews

In the Rites of Eleusis, the band was among the leading Norwegian scene. Frank Stoever wrote in Voices from the Darkside, the band had already been impressive with their single and their debut album was " even more ". He hoped their attitude is also in order, since it might someday belong to the leading bands.
