The publisher of foreign-language literature published in Pyongyang for certain foreign publications in several languages.

Publications

Among the publications are political literature (especially works and biographies of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, as well as texts of the Workers' Party of Korea ), books and brochures about Korean culture, economy and society, translations of Korean fiction and legal texts. Currently, published in eight languages ​​: English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic.

The publishing house was founded on December 4, 1949. The oldest English-language publication of the publisher in the Library of Congress dates from the year 1956. Brochures in German language published since 1969. Oldest German-language publications of the publishing house in the catalog that German national library date from the year 1974.

The publisher does not use ISBNs for his publications. However, it is obviously contrary to the previous practice thus begun since 2008 to allocate periodical publications an ISSN. The distribution abroad via the Korean Publications Exchange Association ( KPEA ) and the commercial Korea Publications Export & Import Corporation ( KPEIC ), with the head office in Pyongyang and in some cases over the internet.

The Englishman Michael Harrold published in 2004 a book about his many years of work as a translator and proofreader in the publishing house from 1987.
