Fort William (Ontario)

Fort William is a district of Thunder Bay in Ontario and sits at the mouth of the river Kaministiquia River in Lake Superior. It is made wards of the city districts McKellar and Westford. Until January 1970 Fort William was a separate town, and then merged with the city of Port Arthur and the communities of Neebing and McIntyre to the City of Thunder Bay. At this time, Fort William was the largest city in northwestern Ontario. Today there live about 2000 people.

The district is now known as Downtown Fort William, with the names Thunder Bay South and The South Core are common. He is the urban core of the southern half of Thunder Bay and the seat of Thunder Bay City Council.
