History

The company was formed in 1927 as a merger of the Power Speciality Company, which was founded in 1884 as Water Works Supply Company of the Family Foster, and the Wheeler Condenser & Engineering Company, whose roots date to 1891. Originally the operational headquarters was located in New York City, but was later moved to Clinton in New Jersey.

In 2008, Foster Wheeler had a turnover of 6.854 billion U.S. dollars.

The end of 2008, the Group decided to relocate its corporate headquarters from Bermuda to Switzerland. The relocation to train was completed on 9 February 2009. This was accompanied by the conversion of Foster Wheeler in a joint stock company under Swiss law.
