Four Holy Marshals

The Four Marshals God are four saints of the early Christians, who were especially venerated as the patron saint in unexplained plagues and diseases in the Rhineland. They compared the helpful Saints Cornelius, Anthony, Hubert and Quirinus with marshals, who, like the marshals at the imperial court, under management of the heavenly throne of the all-conquering Christ and are called Hofmarschälle God "because of their unique standing there merits and daily help".
