Fráech

Fröch mac Idaith [ froiç mak ' iðiθ ʴ ] is the name of a legendary figure from the Ulster Cycle of Celtic mythology of Ireland.

Mythology

Fröch mac Idaith is the son of the fairy Bé Find, and the nephew of Boand and is considered the most beautiful man from Ireland and Scotland. He is the main character of the Táin Bó Froích ( " The expelling of cattle Froechs "), a Remscéla ( Táin Bó Vorerzählung to Cuailnge ) whose two parts are connected only by him loose.

As Froechs Treblann wife, his sons and his cattle are stolen, he pursued the marauders together with Conall Cernach across the English Channel to their castle in the Alps. The castle is destroyed, the booty taken from the robbers again. Treblann, which should be a granddaughter of Oengus and foster daughter of Coirpre, and thus a descendant of the Tuatha Dé Danann, is no more than Froechs wife mentioned in the other part of the saga.

Here he is campaigning for Ailill mac Máta and Medb to their daughter Findabair what Ailill tries to kill him by treachery, because he did not want him as a son. When a military expedition to Ulster Medb offers her daughter the one who defeated Cú Chulainn. Fröch signs up as first to this fight, but is killed by Cú Chulainn.
