FrÄ…knowo

Frąknowo [ frɔŋknɔvɔ ] ( German Frankenau ) is a village in the Polish voivodship of Warmia and Mazury in the community Nidzica. Frąknowo is located east of Michałki ( Michalken ), north of Raczki ( Horn Home / Rontzken ), south of Waplewo ( Waplitz ) and west of Dobrzyn ( Gutfeld ). It is a typical Masurian village with a village pond and is located on the regional road 7 ( European Route 77 at the same time ) from Warsaw to Gdansk.

History

Today's Frąknowo (then Frankenau ) was first mentioned in 1355. At least since 1384 it was a noble good. In the late 18th century and early 19th century, the place was transformed into a farming village. This development came the 1855 financial statements. Frankenau belonged to the parish river Skottau and was until 1945 part of the district Neidenburg in East Prussia. Found in the First World War here after the invasion of the Russian army fighting in the course of the battle of Tannenberg instead. At the end of the Second World War, on 20 January 1945, it was conquered by the Red Army and later handed over to Poland.
