Frances Moore Lappé

Frances Moore Lappé ( born February 10, 1944 in Pendleton, Oregon, USA) is an activist against world hunger and its causes. Here it represents the concept of " Food First " or the food sovereignty.

Life

Frances Moore Lappé is the author of 15 books, including 1971 Diet for a Small Planet ( German: The Eco- diet), which has been sold around the world about 3 million times, and 12 myths about world hunger (World Hunger: Twelve Myths ) they co-authored with Joseph Collins. With the latter she founded in 1975 the Food First Institute (also known as the Institute for Food and Development Policy known), which is to inform the American public about the causes of world hunger. It is council member of the World Future Council.

Frances Moore Lappé has received a total of 17 honorary doctorates. In 1987 she was awarded with Joseph Collins and the Institute for Food and Development Policy, the " Alternative Nobel Prize ".

Her daughter, Anna Lappé, Frances Moore Lappé support in their fight against hunger.
