Francesco Cilea

Francesco Cilea ( born July 23, 1866 in Palmi, Reggio Calabria Province; † November 20, 1950 in Varazze, Savona Province) was an Italian composer and music educator.

Cilea was 1896-1904 Professor of Music Theory in Florence and from 1916 to 1935 director of the conservatory in Naples. His operas are lyrical version of the Italian verismo. He also wrote orchestral and chamber music, piano pieces and songs.
