Francis Moore (ice hockey)

Francis William " Dinty " Moore ( born October 29, 1900 in Port Colborne, Ontario, † January 21, 1976 in Morgan 's Point, Ontario ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender - umpire and functionary.

Career

Francis Moore began his career as a hockey player with the Toronto Canoe Club Paddlers, with which he won in 1920 the Memorial Cup. From 1930 to 1935 played goalkeeper for the Port Colborne Sailors from the Ontario Hockey Association. Then he ran for the Toronto British Consols, he represented at the Olympic Winter Games before 1936 Canada with the Port Arthur Bearcats. Following the tournament he played one year for the Toronto Goodyears in the OHA. From 1942 to 1945 he was president of the Ontario Hockey Association, while he also worked as a referee in the Senior Championship.

Since the year of his death, in 1976, named after him FW " Dinty " Moore Trophy is awarded to the best rookie goalkeeper in the Canadian top junior league Ontario Hockey League. Part of his Olympic equipment from 1936 is on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

Internationally

For Canada, Moore participated in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, where he won the silver medal with his team.
