Francisco Batistela

Francisco Batistela C.Ss.R. ( born September 30, 1931 in Cerquilho, São Paulo, Brazil, † 20 October, 2010 Guaratinguetá, Brazil) was Bishop of Bom Jesus da Lapa.

Life

Francisco Batistela occurred in 1943 in the Saint Alphonsus Seminary in Aparecida one. After a novitiate in Pindamonhangaba 1952, he joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists at. He studied philosophy and theology at the seminary of Santa Teresa in Tietê (SP). The final profession, he passed on January 2, 1955, received on 25 January 1957, the ordination by José Carlos Aguirre, Bishop of Sorocaba. He received his pastoral training in the parish of Nossa Senhora da Penha, São Paulo (SP). From 1959 to 1964 he was at the Sanctuary of Our Lady Nacional e na Nossa Senhora Aparecida Paroquia ( Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida ) operates the Basilica in honor of the Brazilian national saint. From 1982 to 1984 he was a missionary in the Comunidade Santa Tere Sinha (St. Therese Community ) in Tietê (SP). In January 1985 he was appointed parish priest of the parish of Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Aparecida and 1987 he was also appointed Superior of the Congregation.

In 1990 he was da Lapa appointed by Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Bom Jesus. The Bishop of Aparecida, Geraldo María de Morais Penido, donated him on 1 July 1990 in the Basilica of Aparecida episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Pedro Fré C.Ss.R., Bishop of Barretos, and Tarcísio Ariovaldo Amaral, Bishop of Campanha.
