Francisco María Aguilera González

Francisco María Aguilera González ( * April 27, 1918 in Guanajuato; † 5 August 2010 Tequisquiapan, Querétaro ) was a Mexican theologian and Bishop in Mexico.

Life

Francisco María Aguilera González joined in 1931, the seminary of Guadalupe and studied at the Seminary of Mexico. Archbishop Luis María Martínez sent him for further studies at the Pontifical Latin American Group " Pius " in Rome. On 11 April 1943 he received the priesthood ibid. He holds a degree in philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University and received his doctorate in theology. In his 2010 autobiography Balcones del Alma, Memorias, he described the occupation of Rome during World War II and the liberation of Rome by the Allies.

On 13 November 1947 he returned to Mexico and took over activities in pastoral care and in teaching at the Seminario Conciliar. From 1954 he became involved in particular for catechesis in Mexico and beyond in the Latin American Episcopal Conference ( CELAM). 1973 returned Aguilera González returned to Rome and was prefect of studies at the Pontifical Colegio Mexicano. In addition, he taught Mexican history at the Pontifical Salesian University. In 1977 he returned to Mexico and was responsible for the hospital chaplaincy and head of the preparatory work for the visit of Pope John Paul II in January 1979 in Mexico.

John Paul II appointed him on June 5, 1979, Titular Bishop of Macriana in Mauretania and ordered Francisco María Aguilera González auxiliary bishop in Mexico City.
