Franco Tosi

Franco Tosi (* April 21, 1850 in Villa Cortese, † November 25, 1898 in Legnano ) was an Italian mechanical engineer and industrialist, head of the eponymous company.

After working abroad, notably in Germany, he was appointed in 1876 by Eugenio Cantoni Managing Director of Cantoni & C. Krumm, a manufacturer of steam engines and steam boilers. During this time he developed a 3 HP (1877 ) and later the Ryder steam engine with 40 to 50 HP ( 1881). In the same year Tosi part owner of the company, which will change its name to Franco Tosi & C.. 1884 Tosi is the sole owner of the company.

His company employed in the 1890s around 600 people. Tosi emerged through the establishment of a progressive occupational health care, social security and training. He was killed near the train station Legnano in 1898 by an employee.
