François Cheng

François Cheng ( born August 30, 1929 in Nanchang, China) is a writer, poet and calligrapher.

Life

Cheng comes from a family of writers and studied at the University of Nanjing. In 1949, he decided, because of his enthusiasm for the French language and culture, to settle in France (since 1973 he is a French citizen ). Since 1960 he pursued an academic career, including as a language teacher for students of the School of Oriental Languages ​​( Ecole des langues orientales ) in Paris. In addition, he has emerged as a translator of poetry.
