François Joseph Pierre Deniau

François Joseph Pierre Deniau ( born October 3, 1936 in Neuilly -sur -Seine, † January 12, 2014 ) was a French clergyman and bishop of Nevers.

Life

François Joseph Pierre Deniau studied philosophy and theology at the seminary of Saint- Sulpice d' Issy -les -Moulineaux and received on 29 June 1961, the ordination. At the Angelicum in Rome, he completed another study of theology 1961 until 1963.

From 1963 to 1972 he was student chaplain in Paris and director of the diocesan student house from 1974 until 1978. From 1971 to 1978 he was in charge for the training of young priests in the Diocese of Nanterre, and later for the whole of France. From 1972 to 1974 he was a professor at the seminary of Saint- Sulpice d' Issy -les Moulineaux. From 1975 to 1985 he took over the management of the education and training of the laity. From 1976 to 1985 he was a university chaplain and from 1978 to 1985 pastor of Vanves. 1984/85 he was chaplain of the national center for marriage preparation. From 1990 to 1996 he was a consultant of the National Committee for the Permanent Diaconate. 1985 Deniau General of Nanterre. He was pastor of Puteaux 1997-1998.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 26 June 1998 to the Bishop of Nevers. The Bishop of Nanterre, François -Marie- Christian Favreau, donated to him on 4 October 1998 in Cathedral of Nevers episcopal ordination; Georges Edmond Robert Gilson were co-consecrators, Archbishop of Sens- Auxerre and Prelate of Mission de France o Pontigny, and Pierre Marie Léon Augustin Plateau, Archbishop of Bourges.

2005 to 2006 he held a diocesan synod. In 2010 he gave out the font " toutes les raisons d' en espérer Nièvre ." In the French Episcopal Conference, he was president of the Committee on Relations with the Jews (2000-2005) and a member of the Education Committee and projects ( 2005-2011 ). He was co-chair of the Ecumenical Association for Biblical Studies ( 'Association pour la recherche Oecuménique biblique ) since 2010.
