Frank Wisner

Frank Gardiner Wisner ( June 23, 1909 *, † October 29, 1965 ) was a senior American intelligence officials and lawyers.

During the Second World War Wisner worked for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS ), the former intelligence service of the United States. March 1945 was Wisner in Wiesbaden OSS connection to the Gehlen organization, which was founded in 1956, the core of the new West German intelligence service.

After the founding of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), he first headed the agency responsible for covert operations abroad department. After the failure of a coup attempt in 1958 operated against the Indonesian President Sukarno Wisner was several months being treated for " psychotic mania ", then transferred to London to direct the local CIA office ( until 1962 ).

Frank Gardiner Wisner senior is the father of the diplomat Frank Wisner George junior.
