Franky Van Der Elst

Franky Van Der Elst ( born April 30, 1961 in Opwijk, Belgium ) is a former Belgian footballer and current coach.

Van Der Elst began his active career at RWD Molenbeek before 1984 he moved to FC Bruges, where in 1999 his career ended. Here he won five championships ( 1988, 1990, 1992, 1996, 1998) and four times the National Cup (1986, 1991, 1995, 1996). The defensive midfielder took part in 1986-1998 for the Belgian national team in four World Cup tournaments, where it was used 14 times. In total, he completed 86 caps for his country (1 goal ). Subsequently, Van Der Elst 1999-2003 coach at Germinal Beerschot, and 2003/ 04 at SK Lokeren. In September 2011 he took over as coach at the VV Sint -Truiden.

1982 was not Franky van der Elst, but François Van Der Elst World Cup participants and came to two inserts.

From Pele, he was elected 100 of the 125 best living footballers still in the list of FIFA.
