Franz (crater)

Franz is an impact crater on the moon northeastern front, between Mare Tranquillitatis and Sinus Amoris. The crater is heavily eroded, the interior was flooded by lavas of the adjacent Mare and is therefore relatively flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the German astronomer Julius Francis.
