Franz Gertsch
Franz Gertsch ( born March 8, 1930 in Mörigen the Canton of Bern ) is a Swiss painter.
Biography
From 1947 to 1952, he was trained in the school of painting of Max Mühlenen and Hans Schwarzenbach in Bern. In 1971 he received the Swiss art award. In 1972 he participated in the documenta-5.html">documenta 5 in Kassel in 1978, 1999 and 2003 at the Venice Biennale. 1997 The Emperor ring he was - Art Prize of the City of Goslar awarded.
In autumn 2002, financed by the entrepreneur Willy Michel Franz Gertsch Museum was opened in Burgdorf. 2005 launched the first Franz Gertsch - retrospective. The exhibition places were the Museum Franz Gertsch and the Kunstmuseum Bern. Since 2006, Gertsch honorary citizen of his home community Rüschegg. On the occasion of his 75th birthday retrospectives of his work have been shown in numerous cities.
Creative phases
The image Huaa ...! in 1969, which Gertsch, also known as Plant No. 1, marked a turning point in his work dar. From 1969 to 1978 he created large-format photo-realistic paintings. In the period 1986-1994 Gertsch dealt exclusively with woodcuts. The triptych hangs in the format of 276 × 597 cm at the Museum Franz Gertsch.
