Fred Roos

Fred Roos ( May 22nd, 1934 in Santa Monica, California) is an American film producer and casting director.

Life

Roos began his career in the film business as a casting director mid-1960s. Until the early 1970s he worked mainly for various television series, including the I Spy ( 1966/1967 ) and the Andy Griffith Show ( 1966-1968 ). In the 70 years he has been involved in various theater productions, as for example, American Graffiti (1973). The film The Godfather (1972 ) meant the first collaboration with Francis Ford Coppola.

Already in the 1960s he began to work as a film producer. In 1974, he served as co-producer of Dialogue and The Godfather - Part II active. For the latter he was, Gray Frederickson and Coppola won the Oscar for Best Picture. Since then, Roos has worked as a producer for the films Coppula. In this position, he is also working with Sofia Coppola. In 1980 he nominated for an Oscar for Apocalypse Now in the same category.

In 2006 he was part of the jury of the International Film Festival Berlin.
