Frédéric Esther

Frédéric Esther ( born June 8, 1972 in Meulan -en- Yvelines ) is a French former boxer in the Light Middleweight, European Champion 1998, bronze medalist of the 1999 World Cup and Olympic athlete of 2000.

Career

The approximately 1.77 m wide Links boom boxed exclusively in the Light Middleweight ( to 71 kg). It was 1995, 1999 and 2000 French champion and won in May 1998, the European Championships in Minsk. He defeated this novel Aleksejew from Estonia, Tengiz Dschaoschwili from Georgia, Chris Bessey from England and Ercüment Arslan from Turkey.

In August 1999, he also won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Houston. After he had beaten Károly Balzsay from Hungary and Hely Yanez from Venezuela, he was defeated in the semifinals against Marian Simion of Romania. He then competed at the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000, where he entered victories against Andrei Mishin from Russia and Fırat Karagöllü from Turkey to the quarterfinals. During the subsequent battle for the semi-finals and thus secure a medal, he lost again against the Romanians Marian Simion.

He was also a participant in international tournaments and won, among others, the 1997 Acropolis Cup in Athens, with victories against the Slovaks Martin Červenka, the Danes Lars Pedersen, the Romanians Wasile Morowan, the Ukrainian Alexander Subrichin and the Estonians Roman Alekseev.

After the Olympics, he began a short professional career with 16 fights including 14 wins. In the fight for the French championship in 2004 against Jean -Paul Mendy, he suffered a points defeat and ended his boxing career.
