Frederick Coffay Yohn

Frederick Coffay Yohn ( born February 8, 1875 in Indianapolis, Indiana, † June 5, 1933 in Norwalk, Connecticut ) was an American painter. His paintings usually have a military respect and give often scenes at the front again.

Life and work

Yohn was trained at the Art School of Indianapolis and at the Art Students ' League in New York, here under Henry Siddons Mowbray. He painted pictures often with military themes in which he from the American War of Independence, as well as created images of the First World War. When he was 23 years old, some of his paintings were shown at a traveling exhibition. In the same year Lowell Thomas Hero of Vincennes, which was illustrated by FC Yohn published. In 1929, one created by Yohn 2- cent stamp was released, which in Indiana was the 150th anniversary of the victory of George Rogers Clark on the British at Fort Sackville, Vincennes today on the subject.
