Friedrich Erdmann von Anhalt- Köthen - Pless ( born October 27, 1731 in Köthen; † December 12, 1797 at Pless ) was of the family of Ascanians Prince of Anhalt -Köthen Pless

Life

Friedrich Erdmann was the younger son of Prince August Ludwig of Anhalt- Köthen (1697-1755) from his marriage to Emilie (1708-1732), daughter of Count Erdmann II of Promnitz. Friedrich Erdmann was at first, so in August 1751, in the service of the Prussian army. In July 1754 he came as Captain of a company in the Prussian Infantry Regiment of Meyerinck (No. 26) in financial straits and asked about the King Frederick II several times to support his father. Soon after, he moved to French military services. He began to travel to Russia. After the execution of King Louis XVI. he resigned from all French military honors and went back in the Prussian army, where he was still Lieutenant General in 1797.

Friedrich Erdmann was a knight of the Polish White Eagle Order. After his reign, the Pless Pless castle was named in the resin.
