Plessenburg

Plessenburg is a district of Ilse castle in the Harz National Park, Harz, Saxony- Anhalt.

Location and origin

On the Königskoll in Huysburger fre south of Ilse castle was built by Count Heinrich Ernst build a grand hunting lodge in the years 1775-1776 of Stolberg- Wernigerode. This he named after his son, Prince Friedrich Erdmann von Anhalt- Köthen - Pless, Pless Castle. Set back from the hunting lodge was built in the 19th century, a forester's house, which has become a popular tourist restaurant soon. Immediately adjacent to the cabin, however, a half-timbered building for the kitchen staff in 1880 built into the moved after the expropriation of the princes of Stolberg- Wernigerode after the Second World War, the restaurant business and what you structurally later joined with the old hunting lodge of a building complex that today as a popular Ausflugsgaststätte is used.

Tourism

Lead to Plessenburg various walking trails from around Ilsenburg, Drubeck, Darlingerode, Wernigerode and Bad Harzburg. It is a popular stop on the outward or return to the highest resin peak, the Brocken. Not far from the Plessenburg are the Wolf cliffs with a view framework, the cases in Ilse Ilse valley and the Ilsenstein. Furthermore, the Plessenburg from early May to be attained by the end of October on certain days by bus from Wernigerode Ilse castle.
