Frederick Miller

Frederick Miller (* November 24, 1824 in Riedlingen, Württemberg Friedrich Eduard Johannes Müller, † May 11, 1888 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States) was the founder of US-based Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee.

Frederick Miller was born in Riedlingen, however, began in the neighboring Sigmaringen at a young age his work as a master brewer. 1849 he was appointed Karl Anton von Hohenzollern -Sigmaringen, last ruler of the Hohenzollern native land before its incorporation into Prussia, the court brewery of Hohenzollern Sigmaringen.

Frederick Miller married on June 7, 1853 in Friedrichshafen his wife Josephine and emigrated to the United States a year later.

In 1855 he was brewing in the " Old Watertown Plank Road Brewery " his first beer after German recipe in the United States and founded in the same year, the Miller Brewery.

1888 Frederick Miller died in Milwaukee cancer.

The yeast strain all Miller beers is still the yeast strain the court brewery of Hohenzollern Sigmaringen.

The brewery is no longer in the family. The long period of the tobacco company Philip Morris run company was acquired in 2002 by the South African Breweries.
