Frederick S. Armitage

Frederick S. Armitage ( born June 29, 1874 in New York City; † after 1917) was an American cinematographer, director and film producer, who has worked in over 400 productions in the film company American Mutoscope and Biograph Company.

Life

About his personal life very little is known. He was born on June 29, 1874 in New York City. His career as a cinematographer began in 1897 with the film Trout Poachers which was produced by the American Mutoscope and Biograph Company.

He also documented some historical events such as the Peace Jubilee Naval Parade in New York City in honor of the return of the victorious Admiral George Dewey and his soldiers from the Spanish-American War. In addition, he also documented on June 9, 1899 heavyweight bout between Jim Jeffries and Tom Sharkey. From a pure playing time of 135 minutes finally created 8 films that were marketed by the American Mutoscope and Biograph Company.

In addition to documentaries, he also shot numerous comedies and slapstick films like The Burglar and the Bundle, The Demon Barber and Her First Cigarette in the year 1899.
