Frederick Spencer, 4th Earl Spencer

Frederick Spencer, 4th Earl Spencer KG CB PC ( * April 14, 1798, † December 27, 1857 ) was a British admiral.

Life

Frederick Spencer joined after graduating from Eton College in the Royal Navy, and distinguished himself in 1827 at the Battle of Navarino from. In 1845 he inherited the title and the goods of his late brother John Spencer, 3rd Earl Spencer.

From July 1846 to September 1848 he was Lord Chamberlain of the Household, and was promoted to Rear Admiral in 1852 and took over in 1854 as the successor of Henry Howard, 13th Duke of Norfolk, the office of Lord Steward of the Household.

Family

Spencer was married twice in total. He had a son and two daughters from his first marriage and another son and another daughter from his second marriage. His son John inherited at his death the title.
