Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country AVA

Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country AVA ( recognized since 22 December 1988) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of Texas. The area is located in the Texas Hill Country in the immediate vicinity of Fredericksburg in Gillespie County. Within the Texas Hill Country, the influence of German immigrants is omnipresent. Due to the warm climate, however, the immigrants were not set accents in the wine, as the German grape varieties for the climatic conditions on site are not suitable. In Texas are mostly varietals from France, Spain and Italy in use. The area is located about 320 km from the Gulf of Mexico, so that the influence of the warm and moist sea breezes, the climate is noticeable only to a small extent ..

So far completed only two wineries under the name of the appellation wines from: Fredericksburg Winery and McReynolds Wines.
