Frederickscross

Duke Frederick II of Anhalt founded on 12 December 1914, the Friedrich- cross, which was similar to the Iron Cross and consists of dark bronze.

There are detectable three types:

  • A cross of bronze on green band with red side stripes for fighters
  • A cross of bronze on green ribbon with white side stripes for non-combatants
  • A cross slot (probably not officially sponsored )

The bronze cross is in the shape of a paw Cross. In the upper arm of the cross is a crown in the bottom the year 1914. Around the medallion with the monogram of its founder F wraps an oak wreath, which leaves open the upper and lower beams. The back is smooth, but the medallion is FOR MERIT IN THE WARS.

The ribbon is green with red side stripes. Non-combatants were given the green ribbon with white side stripes.

In November 1918 the Regent Prince Aribert of Anhalt for the still underage Duke Joachim Ernst von Anhalt abdicated. The order was not subsequently awarded.

The Friedrich- cross was, inter alia, supported by Kaiser Wilhelm II and General Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg and Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz.
