Free University of Bozen-Bolzano

The Free University of Bolzano (Italian: Libera Università di Bolzano; Latin: Universitas Studiorum Bauzanensis, English: Free University of Bozen / Bolzano) was founded in 1997 in Bolzano (South Tyrol, Italy) and currently comprises five faculties. The University belongs to Innsbruck and Trento among the largest educational institutions in the European Region Tyrol - South Tyrol - Trentino.

History

The Free University of Bolzano ( Unibz ) was founded in 1997 with two faculties ( Economics at Bolzano and Bressanone in Education ). In 1998, the University Library was opened. It was followed by the faculties of computer science and design and arts. The Faculty was founded in 2007 with the Faculty of Science and Technology.

The multilingual university offers its study programs to the three locations Bolzano, Bressanone ( seat of the Faculty of Education ) and Brunico (sitting in Tourism, Sport and Event Management of the Bachelors ) on German, English and Italian.

The Unibz was Europe's first trilingual university. Your applicants are required to undergo admission process. The inner city situated university building in Bolzano were planned by the Zurich architects Matthias Bischoff and Roberto Azzola that could decide an international architecture competition for themselves. The Brixner site was also built as a result of an international competition brief for a design of the Stuttgart architects Regina carbon Mayer and Jens Colonel in 2004.

Research centers

Student Activities

Student Representatives

The elections of student representatives are held normally every two years. However, you can be called between two election dates in the period from November to January at the request of the student representatives, offices are unoccupied (currently in ten degree program directors). The Sports Club University Bolzano takes care of the organization of regular sporting activities and training. Once a year the Bolzano Snow Days are organized to which students are invited from numerous universities in Europe. The South Tyrolean Students' Union is the most important South Tyrolean student representation. In addition to its headquarters in Bolzano there are seven field offices in major university cities in Austria and Italy.
