Freedom Movement

The Freedom Movement (Georgian თავისუფლება / Tawissupleba ) is a right-wing conservative party in Georgia. It was founded in January 2004. Its chairman is the historian and Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Iranist, eldest son of former President Zviad Gamsakhurdia Georgian.

The freedom movement wants Georgia to prepare for accession to the European Union. She advocates for the territorial integrity of Georgia. History

The party won in the 2004 elections an official voting result of 4.39 % and failed so at the seven- percent threshold. In April, she laid in vain complaint for alleged vote-rigging in the Supreme Court of Georgia.

The activities of the party are low. At the parliamentary elections on October 1, 2005, the Freedom Movement joined with the Conservative Party, the Georgian Labour Party and the opposition parties of the right to an electoral alliance together.

In November 2007, the party joined with the Republican Party of Georgia, the Conservative Party, the party Georgia's Way, our own path, the People's party, the Movement for a United Georgia party Georgian troops and the Party National Forum for electoral alliance united National Council together, which was nominated as a presidential candidate on November 12 Levan Gachechiladze. Party leader

Konstantine Gamsakhurdia 's party chairman. He lived from 1992 to 2006 in exile in Switzerland. In the Georgian parliamentary elections on 28 March 2004, he led the party list at number one. Since February 2006 he has headed the freedom movement full-time. In December 2006 he accused the Government to pursue the members of his party by penal means.
