Freida Pinto
Freida Pinto ( born October 18, 1984 in Mumbai) is an Indian actress, presenter and model. A wide audience, she was known by the female lead in the movie Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
Biography
Freida Pinto was born as the second daughter of the database manager Frederick Pinto Neerude and the school director Sylvia Pinto Derebail, both of which came from Mangalore. Her name is of Portuguese descent, her family was originally Catholic. Pintos sister is hired as a producer at an Indian news channel. Pinto completed her English language and literature studies at St. Xavier 's College, Mumbai with a Bachelor of Arts. Since 2005 she is a model. She appeared at this time, among other campaigns for India Today, Škoda, De Beers, eBay, Visa, Wrigley and on various magazine covers and fashion shows. From 2006 to 2007 Pinto worked as a presenter for the English-language travel magazine Full Circle. In 52 episodes, she traveled as part of the mission objectives such as Afghanistan, Fiji, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
As of 2007, Pinto was trying to establish himself as an actress in the Indian film industry foot. She played the female lead in the movie Slumdog Millionaire (2008). In the film she plays the great love of six years younger Dev Patel, who as a game show contestant in the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? reaches for the grand prize and be reminded of his childhood in the slums. 2009, the film was awarded, among other other things, an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award, Pinto herself was nominated for the British Academy Film Award.
After the success of her first film role Pinto took acting lessons. In 2010 she starred in Woody Allen's You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger opposite Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, Antonio Banderas and Josh Brolin a music student who cancels their imminent wedding because of an affair with a neighbor. She received a further role in Julian Schnabel's Miral Drama (2010 ) ( Hiam Abbass played by ) the reports of the trials of a woman to open in the late 1940s in Jerusalem an orphanage.
Since 2008 she is dating Dev Patel, her partner from Slumdog Millionaire.
End of April 2009, Pinto, actors like Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Aamir Khan and Shahid Kapoor is one of their role models, selected by the U.S. People magazine among the 100 most beautiful people in the world. Two weeks later, she was chosen as the new face of L' Oréal.
Since 2012, Freida Pinto is an ambassador for the campaign " Because I am a Girl" of the Children's Fund, Plan International.
