French submarine Saphir (S602)

The sapphire ( S 602) is a tactical nuclear submarine of the French Navy. Its original name was Brittany. She later but was renamed after the set in World War II ship same type of sapphire class. The name means sapphire. The sapphire is the second boat of the Rubis class.

The nuclear -powered submarine has been modernized between October 1989 and May 1991 to the state of Améthyste class
