Frescobaldi

Marchese Vittorio de ' Frescobaldi (* 1928 in Florence, Tuscany ) is an Italian wine entrepreneur.

Family history of

The name Frescobaldi is a tradition of more than 1000 years in the fields of art, culture, commerce, finance, and in particular the history of Tuscany. The story of the noble family Marchesi de ' Frescobaldi dates back to the year 1300. In the 14th century provided the Florentine noble family with its fine wines, many European rulers yards, including the French royal court of Catherine de Medici ( 1519-1589 ), the English court of Henry VII ( 1457-1509 ), sales of the merchant family Fugger from Augsburg or the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III. de ' Medici (1642-1723) recognizes the quality of wine products.

Empire Frescobaldi

After the death of his father, Lamberto de ' Frescobaldi, took his eldest son Vittorio Frescobaldi the line and will be assisted by his two brothers, Ferdinando and Leonardo. The distribution of Attems wines by Frescobaldi began in 2001 with typical gastronomy and white wines (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc) in the vintage 2000.

The annual production in 2001 amounted to a total of 9 million bottles, 35 % of which were sold in Italy, the rest were exported.

Growing regions of the Frescobaldi family

The company Frescobaldi now includes 200 employees, 100 external consultants and nine wineries, all of which are located in particularly suitable growing regions and their best locations high profile wines (DOC, DOCG, IGT ) are generated.

  • Castello di Pomino

Flagship is the " Pomino Benefizio ", a blend of 80 % Chardonnay, 15 % Pinot Bianco and Traminer and Riesling. In addition to the Pomino Benefizio also Pomino Bianco, Rosso and Pomino Pomino Vin Santo are generated. Pomino is a district of Rufina.

  • Castello di Nipozzano

1855 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were grown for the first time. Here " Montesodi " ( Sangiovese ) and " Nipozzano Riserva " are from Chianti Rufina subzone, and the red wines produced ( from Sangiovese with shares Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot ).

  • Castello Giocondo

The " Castelgiocondo " with about 150 hectares of vineyards located in Montalcino, the growing area of the DOCG Brunello di Montalcino. In addition, here the reds " Luce " (from Sangiovese and Merlot ) and " Lamaione " are generated ( Merlot ), a joint venture with Robert Mondavi.

  • Castello Castiglioni

Historically a part of the estate Castiglioni in Montespertoli of the oldest possessions of the family (1331 ).
