Friendly Fires

Friendly Fires is a three-piece British pop band. It was founded in 2006 in St Albans ( Hertfordshire). The band's name is derived from the first track of the album Always Now the British New Wave band Section 25. Their musical style moves in the genres of indie pop, electronica and shoegazing. By his own admission he is heavily influenced by the music of the German techno label Kompakt, Carl Craig and Prince.

Band History

The members of Friendly Fires learned already during the school days in St Albans know. At the age of 14, she founded a first band that existed until the beginning of their studies. During this time, Ed Macfarlane published, the lead singer of the band, on the specialized on electronic music record labels Skam and Precinct Recordings solo recordings.

After the departure of the University were forming the three musicians - inspired by dance music and the lush melodies of Shoegazing - new as Friendly Fires. End of 2007, they were presented as the first band without a record deal in the broadcast transmission of the British television station Channel 4. After they were taken from the record label XL Recordings under contract, was published in December 2007, the debut single Paris. You voted the editors of the Guardian and the New Musical Express for the single of the week.

In the spring of 2008, a tour followed by the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Their song came on board in North America in a television commercial for Nintendo video game Wii Fit to use. In addition, it was used in a trailer for the video game Gran Turismo 5.

On 1 September 2008, the band's debut album was released with the same title. As more singles Skeleton Boy and Kiss Of Life was released.

On 16 May 2011 came the second album, Pala, with the singles Live Those Days Tonight and Hawaiian Air on the market.

The end of 2012 Friendly Fires are represented with the songs Hawaiian Air and Hurting in the soundtrack to the video game Forza Horizon.
