Frits Castricum

Fredericus " Frits " Wilhelmus Cornelis ( born April 19, 1947 in Boxtel, † 12 September 2011) was a Dutch politician of the Partij van de Arbeid ( PvdA).

Life

After visiting schools and the high school he graduated from in Oosterhout 1964-1965 vocational training as a physical therapist. He then worked 1964-1967 as a journalist for the daily newspaper De Stem in Oosterhout, before 1968-1977 Staff Officer Van Doorne 's the Automobiel Fabriek NV ( DAF) was. Castricum, which was in 1968 a member of the PvdA, was 1970-1977 chairman of the Labour Party from Boxtel and at the same time from 1972 to 1977 Member of the Executive Board of the PvdA of North West Brabant.

On 8 June 1977, he was first elected a deputy to the Second Chamber of the States General and belonged to this until 17 May 1994. During this time he was also from September 1982 to September 1985 Second Secretary and Treasurer of the faction of his party before he then until October 1987 was secretary of the PvdA Group. He was also a 1987 member of the editorial council of the party newspaper Voor Warts between November 1984 and October.

In February 1991, Castricum Vice Chairman of the Party, exercised this function to March 1992 and during this time last September 1991 to March 1992 and Executive Chairman of the Labour Party following the resignation of Marjanne Sint. Later he was from September 1992 to May 1994 again secretary of the Labour Party Group in the Second Chamber of the States General.

After retiring from the Second Chamber, he was elected in July 1994 to a member of the European Parliament and occupied this position during the fourth term to July 1999. During this time he was also Vice- Chairman of the Socialist Group and a member of their faction and administrative office.

Last Castricum was from June 1999 to June 2003 Member of the First Chamber of the States General.
