Fritz de Quervain

Fritz de Quervain ( born May 4, 1868 in Sion as Johann Friedrich de Quervain, † 24 January 1940 in Bern ) was a Swiss surgeon.

Fritz de Quervain grew up in Muri bei Bern on and studied medicine from 1887 to 1892 in Bern. There he completed his habilitation and taught from 1910 to 1938 surgery. Many basic medical research findings back to him.

Several diseases described by him bear his name: the tendonitis ( tenosynovitis stenosing de Quervain ) and the Quervain 's thyroiditis, subacute thyroiditis ( thyroiditis ).
