Fritz Walter (footballer born 1960)

Fritz Walter ( born July 21, 1960 in Heidelberg ) is a former German football player. He was discovered and promoted by its namesake Fritz Walter, the world champion of 1954.

Life

Fritz Walter began in 1965 when the SG Hohensachsen to play football. In 1976, he joined the FV 09 Weinheim, for whom he played until his move to Waldhof Mannheim in 1981. With Mannheim, he was promoted to the Bundesliga.

He played from 1983 to 1997 in the Bundesliga for SV Waldhof Mannheim, VfB Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld. In 348 games, he scored 157 goals. He scoring 102 goals for VfB Stuttgart. 55 of his 87 goals for Mannheim, he was able to achieve in the first Bundesliga, this is still a club record in the 1st Bundesliga for the Electoral Palatinate. With the VfB 1992 he became German champion in 1989 and was in the final of the UEFA Cup. In 1999, he finished his career with the SSV Ulm 1846.

He was top scorer in the DFB Cup and the first Bundesliga 1992, 1996 in the second division.

In the Summer Olympics 1988, he won with the German team bronze.

The club mascot of VfB Stuttgart, Fritzle, was named after him. Today Fritz Walter is representative of the sports insurance company 3 sports.
